See one of Victoria’s most significant areas of black box wetland and woodland at the Leaghur State Park, on the Loddon River floodplain. Fire up a barbecue in a dedicated fireplace in one of the picnic areas, they’re located near the main entrance and at Lake Meran. Camping is allowed in both areas. See whistling kites, brown falcons, superb fairy-wrens and many other birds, as well as wallabies and kangaroos in the open plains at dawn and dusk.

The 2022 hectares of Leaghur State Park offers endless opportunities to relax and enjoy the peaceful bushland and its interesting history.

Take a leisurely drive following the scenic route, it is a fantastic way to begin exploring the park. Pack a picnic or have a barbecue in the picnic areas near the main entrance and at Lake Meran.

Leaghur State Park protects some of the most significant Black Box wetland and woodland communities in Victoria. The park is on the Loddon River floodplain in the state's north west.

Take a walk through the Black Box woodlands and see birds soaring high above the wooded and wetland areas as well as kangaroos and wallabies in the grasslands and woodlands around sunrise and sunset.

Pack a picnic or have a barbecue and enjoy a relaxing time with family and friends in the picnic areas near the main entrance and at Lake Meran. Fireplaces are provided. Camping is allowed in both picnic areas.
