Are you, or someone you know, the next da Vinci, Van Gogh or Frida Kahlo? The Living Arts Space invites artists who reside in the Greater Bendigo Region to participate in the 2025 Living Arts Space Small Portrait Prize.
Description
The Living Arts Space Small Portrait Prize will celebrate the people of the Greater Bendigo Region, telling the stories of the diverse and passionate population who make up our amazing district.
Entry Criteria: • Portraits are welcome in any two-dimensional medium sized A5 (148 x 210 mm) – A3 (297 x 420mm.) Any portrait that is bigger that A3 (297 x 420mm) will not be accepted. Sculptures are not accepted, only 2D works. • Works on paper, canvas or other material are accepted. This is not a photographic prize, but photographic materials used in mixed media collages are accepted. • The portrait must be of a person. While animals and pets may feature in the portrait, this is not an animal portrait prize. • Entries will be accepted from artists who are 16 years and older. • All entrants must submit their artwork in person at the Bendigo Visitor Centre (51-67 Pall Mall, Bendigo) during Open Hours (9am-4:30pm daily) and pay the entrance fee of $15. Cash and Card accepted. • All artworks must be accompanied by a hard copy of the submission paperwork and artist bio (a maximum of 200 words). • All entrants must email a jpeg of the submitted artwork, the artist bio and submission paperwork to las@bendigo.vic.gov.au by the submission closing date (March 29, 2025 by 4pm). • All works must be marked clearly on the back with artists name, email address and title of work with installation instructions included (if applicable).
Prize: This exhibition will award a first and highly commended prize to the most accomplished portraits. ~ First prize: $2000 ~ Highly Commended: $500
Selection:: Entries will be assessed, and a list of finalists will be selected by the Living Arts Space judging panel. Finalists will be displayed in the Living Arts Space for the duration of the exhibition.
